Automated Directional Hearing Test
Decos Audiology offers two advanced modules for conducting directional hearing tests:
- The Directional Hearing Test
- The Automated Directional Hearing Test
Both tests are conducted with the Decos Sound Arch, which consists of 13 active speakers and a Control Box that allows you to control each speaker separately. When performing the Directional Hearing Test, you indicate the speaker you want the stimulus to play. In the diagram, you plot from which direction the patient heard the sound. A directional hearing matrix is automatically created.
Automated settings
The test for Automated Directional Hearing has been established in close cooperation with PACT, the Platform for Audiology and Clinical Testing. This module offers an advanced test to automatically determine the capacity of the patient to hear directions, following a fixed protocol. This means that the user only has to start the test. The presented stimuli and background sounds are then played at random through the set up speakers following a pre-defined process.
The patient is sitting in a hearing curve set-up and indicates which speaker he/she hears the sound coming from. The software plays the next stimulus as soon as the measurement result has been recorded. The software chooses the speakers at random for presenting both the stimuli and the background sounds.
In this test the selection of which sound is presented as stimulus is free. The background sounds have already been determined in the software. Up to five different background sounds are presented, so always more speakers are used simultaneously.
