Acalos Loudness Scaling Test
The Acalos test has been established in close cooperation with PACT, the Dutch Platform for Audiology and Clinical Testing. Acalos is an acronym for ‘Adaptive procedure for Categorical LOudness Scaling’. The measurement is, among other things, meant for measuring different gradations of hyperacusis.
The patient is presented stimuli of different sound levels and different frequencies in random order. Thus the observed sound level is tested in masked and/or unmasked conditions.
Via a patient response system with a touch screen, the patient indicates the loudness of the stimulus. He/she can indicate values ranging from too loud to inaudible. The results are displayed in a clarifying matrix.
